Required Related Experience:Demonstrated ability in teaching students at all levels in an academic environment, as well as knowledge of pathology and laboratory medicine practices and administration in a variety of clinical, teaching and research environments.

In addition, this position requires demonstrated interest and ability in scholarly activity evidenced by peer review publications and investigative experience.

Fellowship training or comparable experience in molecular pathology is required.

Required License/Registration/CertificationBoard certification appropriate for degree program.

Job SummaryThe Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kentucky, in Lexington, Kentucky, is recruiting a board certified anatomic/clinical pathologist/clinical scientist with fellowship training in molecular pathology to serve as Director of the Genomics Core Laboratory. The successful candidate would join an academic hospital-based practice and could engage in either independent or collaborative research programs appropriate to title series and rank.

The primary responsibilities of this individual are to provide clinical services in Molecular Pathology with a focus on solid tumor molecular pathology, genetics of constitutional disorders, and hematopathology; provide classroom teaching to students and clinical teaching to residents, participate in scholarly initiatives of the Department, the Markey Cancer Center, and the College of Medicine. Administrative effort will include Directing the University of Kentucky Genomics Core Laboratory and The Markey Cancer Center Genomics Core.

The department is an integrated department of pathology http://www.mc.uky.edu/pathology/ with successful programs in anatomic and clinical pathology, a vibrant educational program for medical students, residents and fellows as well as a nationally-recognized research program in neuropathology and research affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center. There is a strong institutional commitment to maintain and enhance research and clinical excellence within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
