The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Virginia, seeks candidates for two tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor positions. The duties of these positions will include clinical service, teaching, research, and other mission driven activities.

Key responsibilities of these positions will include:

Clinical Service: Providing patient care in general infectious disease in both inpatient and outpatient settings, caring for HCV and HCV-HIV co-infected patients, managing outpatient infusion patients, attending on ID, HIV, outpatient consult services, attending on general medicine wards, and assisting in the development and implementation of infection control procedures and policies.

Education: Staffing Infectious Disease and HIV fellow’s clinic and Infectious Disease consultation services. Teaching fellows, residents and medical students. Completing student, resident and fellow evaluations. Participating in ID educational activities including resident didactic series, Departmental Grand Rounds, and other educational duties assigned.

Research: Participating in clinical and administrative research according to skills, interest and funding. Providing mentoring and supervision of fellows and residents as appropriate.

Candidates must have an MD degree, be board-certified and/or board eligible in Internal Medicine and in Infectious Disease at appointment start date. Candidates must also have experience in managing complex infections in both the inpatient and ambulatory setting; in normal as well as impaired hosts; as well as assisting in infection control and prevention efforts.
