This is an Assistant Professor position with an approximate workload of 60% teaching, 20% service and 20% research. Teaching duties will include teaching General Chemistry, the Honors Chemistry Laboratory, the Chemistry Capstone Laboratory and Undergraduate Chemistry & Biochemistry Research. University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry.
This is a tenure-track position. Teaching duties will include teaching three to four courses per year including general chemistry and graduate courses in physical and/or biophysical chemistry. Service duties will include maintaining the student computer lab and undergraduate instrumentation. Research duties will include development of an externally funded research program and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research.
Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year experience teaching general chemistry, maintaining student computers and undergraduate instrumentation and those who have an active research program and evidence of ability to attract independent research funding.
The new hire will have a PhD in chemistry, biophysics or a related field with research experience in biophysics or biophysical chemistry that is relevant to mammalian thermoregulation or metabolism. Limited start-up funds are available.
