The Department of Computer Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock) seeks an outstanding applicant for a tenure-track faculty position in Computer Science at the Assistant Professor rank (R98722). Stronger candidates at higher ranks may be considered. Salaries commensurate with the rank of the position and qualifications will be offered. The Computer Science Department at UA Little Rock awards Associate, BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Computer Science. Currently the Department has over 200 undergraduate and over 40 MS and PhD students. Opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations are abundant with campus research centers such as the Computational Research Center, Emerging Analytics Center, MidSouth Bioinformatics Center, Center of Social Media and Online Behavioral Studies, Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education, and the Center for Integrative Nanotechnology Sciences.
Successful candidates must have a strong commitment to high quality research and teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as service. They will be expected to develop curriculum and new modes of instruction; teach effectively in classroom and lab settings; establish and sustain independent and interdisciplinary research; produce scholarly publications in leading scientific journals; present at major conferences; work with major funding agencies; secure external funding; supervise undergraduate and graduate students; participate in and contribute to major professional societies; participate in shared faculty governance; and contribute through research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience in order to train the next generation of computer scientists.
While other specializations will be considered, preference will be given to applicants with experience in the following areas: Game Development, Virtual Reality, and Computer Systems including Cybersecurity and High Performance Computing.
Required Education and/or Experience: Qualifications required of all applicants include a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline, evidence of strong research potential, good communication skills, and a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Education and/or Experience: Outstanding academic credentials, prior teaching experience, and/or prior industry or entrepreneurial experience.
