McNeese State University invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Physics. This is a full-time, 9-month, unclassified, tenure-track position. The appointment begins in January 2018.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Professor of Chemistry is required to perform duties in accordance with the needs of the department. The successful candidate is responsible for functions related to teaching, advising, scholarly activity, and contribution to the department’s ACS-accredited B.S. /MS program in Chemistry and various concentrations (Biochemistry, Pre-medicine, Pre-pharmacy, Forensic Chemistry, and Chemistry Education). The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in organic chemistry, and general chemistry (including labs) as well as upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to be involved in the maintenance and operation of the department’s chemical instrumentation. The successful candidate is expected to develop a research program relevant to the candidate’s expertise that will serve to train and mentor mostly undergraduate and some graduate students. As a member of a cooperative and collegial campus community, the successful candidate is expected to be of service to the department, university, and broader community.
