Overview

The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, renewable non-tenure-track faculty position of Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Science and Technology to begin in August 2018. The position is primarily dedicated to undergraduate teaching.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics and advising students seeking the department’s Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. The expected teaching load is four courses per semester. Research activity related to the teaching and learning of mathematics and participation in collaborative proposals and projects across departmental, discipline and college boundaries with private, state and federal funding entities will be considered positively.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics. Ability to engage in effective teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching introductory mathematics or mathematics education courses at the college level. Ability to engage in effective research in mathematics or mathematics education.
