Overview

The Department of Biological Sciences at Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant/ associate professor level. The tenure-track faculty member will be responsible for contributing to a liberal education at a minority serving academic institution with a diverse population. This will be accomplished through outstanding teaching, research/scholarship and service to the department, college, and the university.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses primarily in botany, genetics and biochemistry. The new faculty member will also participate in teaching general education courses offered in the department, including general biology. The new faculty member will have the opportunity to develop and teach upper level courses in their area of expertise, and is expected to attract external funding for his/her research program in the department.

The assistant/associate professor will mentor undergraduate students in research, participate in service activities for the department and campus community and advise students in biological sciences.

Preferred Years Experience,Skills, Training , Education:

Preference will be given to a candidate with undergraduate teaching experience, an active externally funded research program, and an outstanding research publication record.
