The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) (http://www.uab.edu/biochemistry ) is pleased to announce a new recruitment for an additional faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor. We are inviting applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure earning position. This position entails participation in teaching, research and service missions of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics in UABSchool of Medicine. The successful candidate will have a full-time commitment and focus on developing and maintaining an NIH-funded research program in one of the following areas: biochemistry and epigenetic of gene expression. This position will be available in the summer of 2018. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics includes approximately 35 faculty members with a diverse skill set of expertise, including cancer biology, epigenetics, and metabolism and signaling, DNA repair, and control of gene expression. Maintaining a well-funded research program that regularly publishes in high profile scientific journals. In addition, successful candidates will also be established and respected in their chosen area of research.
Required QualificationsThe candidates should have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Epigenetics, Molecular Genetics, or a related discipline. Must be proficient in teaching, writing grants, writing papers published in high profile scientific journals. Must be established and respected in their chosen area of research.
Ability to work and collaborate with other laboratories on and off campus.
