Teach undergraduate biochemistry and other chemistry courses consistent with the background and interests of the candidate. Contribute to the department’s activities and perform general faculty duties in support of the University and its General Education program.
Teach the equivalent of a full seven-course load per year, including biochemistry, entry-level chemistry, and general education chemistry lecture and lab courses. Supervise undergraduate research and maintain an active research lab (lab start-up funds are available). Participate in departmental activities, undergraduate student academic advising, and college-wide faculty committees. Contribute to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University and to Bethel’s anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.
Effective teaching of chemistry to undergraduate majors and non-majors; strong leadership of students in research. Development and application of innovative approaches to undergraduate chemistry education are desirable.
Some undergraduate teaching and supervision of student research projects is required. Integration of thought related to Christian beliefs and science is preferred.
Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or closely related field.
