The Swarthmore College Biology Department seeks a Laboratory Instructor for an initial one-year appointment beginning August, 2017 with the possibility of long-term continuing re-appointment.

Responsibilities include assisting faculty in the instruction and preparation of laboratories and field trips, attending course lectures, interacting with students, and grading.

We seek an individual with broad training in biology (including laboratory and/or field experience), adaptable skills and the ability to work well with others. In addition to a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, this position requires strong organizational and communication skills, flexibility, attention to detail, willingness to work with animals, and familiarity with laboratory instrumentation.

Laboratory Instructors are also expected to successfully complete training to drive a full-size van. Previous teaching experience in an academic setting is highly valued.
