Overview

South College invites applications for the position of Department Chair for Science at the South College Nashville Learning Site. The Chair will work on implementation of current South College courses in science areas to include anatomy and physiology and chemistry, providing leadership and commitment to innovative and relevant education for students. Responsibilities include collaboration and consultation with faculty team to promote maximum commitment and results; maintaining high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service; leading efforts for course initiation; completing and administering the learning site budget allocations; recruiting, hiring, and evaluating faculty; organizing student advising procedures; organizing faculty teaching loads and quarterly class schedules; developing and maintaining collaborations with other colleges/programs for interprofessional educational opportunities; and representing the programs in the community at large. The Chair will provide instruction for courses each quarter.

Candidates must evidence the following:

  • An earned doctorate in anatomy or chemistry;
  • Evidence of excellence in postsecondary teaching and administration;
  • Evidence of curriculum development experience;
  • Evidence of planning, assessment, and evaluation processes.
