General Statement of Duties:The geography department seeks a general geographer with strong GIS experience preferred, for a one-year, full-time (4 classes/semester) faculty position beginning in September 2017. Teaching assignments may include Introductory Mapping and GIS classes, Introduction to Geography, World Regional Geography, U.S. Geography, and Introduction to Weather and Climate. Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department/program meetings, and meeting all responsibilities/requirements for part-time faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities:Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching (both in the classroom and online), advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.

Required Qualifications:: A doctorate (or ABD) in Geography or a closely related field. Experience in and commitment to teaching, researching, advising, and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of Geographic Information Systems; experience teaching geography and/or geographic information system (GIS) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; experience using active approaches to learning; experience using alternative methods of learning, such as interactive software, Internet, or individualized modular programs and previous experience teaching a multicultural population.
