The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies (GES) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) seeks a Geospatial Lab Director and Instructor, to begin in August, 2017. The position would be 1/3 time lab manager, 2/3 time instructor. Lab director duties would include managing Esri accounts and other geospatial software, working collaboratively with university IT staff to ensure software are updated and hardware peripherals function, and supporting faculty and students on research and applied projects. Primary responsibilities include maintenance of departmental servers. Knowledge of server network architecture, database management systems, and web mapping APIs and protocols required. We seek an applicant with strong experience managing and using the Esri technology platform and related system administration on a Microsoft technology stack, including comprehensive ArcGIS Server administration, ArcGIS desktop software and extensions, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Portal, enterprise geodatabase administration on SQL Server, and managing Esri licensing. Additional experience with open source platforms is a plus. Instruction will comprise teaching 16 credit hours per year of geospatial courses, such as Digital Earth, Introduction to GIS, Geovisualization, Cartography, GPS field class, or other classes. Minimum of a Master’s degree in related geospatial field required.
We seek a candidate to foster cross-campus collaborations and make connections between the university and the regional GIS community. The GES department has a suite of geospatial software and lab facilities, collegial and productive faculty, approximately 250 undergraduate majors and 25 MA students.
