Instructor – Mathematics
(10-Month, Tenure-Track Position)
ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: August 25, 2017
Master’s degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education required. College-level teaching experience and the ability to teach a full spectrum of courses in Mathematics from developmental through calculus level. Demonstrated ability to engage students as active participants in the teaching/learning process. Experience teaching with graphing calculators or the software simulation of them and experience using web-based instructional support systems (e.g., MyMath Lab, WebAssign, ALEKS, etc.). Knowledge of learning outcomes assessment. Active participation and collaborative leadership in professional development activities and familiarity with current trends in Mathematics and Mathematics Education at both the state and national levels. Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission and its diverse student population. Evidence of strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience teaching both developmental and credit level Mathematics courses at a community college. Knowledge of placement and assessment practices in Mathematics. Knowledge of current student success initiatives in the discipline. Ability to use technology, experience with online or hybrid courses, and use of web-based instructional support systems. Evidence of a reflective teaching practice. Ability to address the needs of a diverse student body with an array of learning styles. Potential for long-term growth both as a teacher and as a creative and collaborative colleague.
Teach 24 credit hours of Mathematics, including both developmental and degree courses. Participate in discipline, department, and college meetings, develop curriculum, and participate in program and NEASC reviews and assessment at the course, program, and graduation levels. Duties may include K-12 collaboration, community outreach, and other service activities consistent with the mission of the college. Assist with interviewing and evaluating adjunct faculty in Mathematics. Provide academic advising and assist in recruitment and retention of students. Perform additional responsibilities in accordance with an approved plan. Serve on college and system wide committees as required.
$52,128 approximate annual, plus excellent benefits package.
