Overview

McNeese State University invites qualified applicants and nominations for the position of Instructor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Physics. This is a full time, 9-month, unclassified, non-tenure track position. The appointment begins in August 2017.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

The Instructor is required to perform duties in accordance with the department’s needs. The successful candidate is responsible for functions related to teaching, advising, scholarly activity, and contributions to the development of the department and university. The successful candidate will teach general chemistry for science and non-science majors and organic chemistry laboratories. The standard teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester. Teaching assignments may include upper level courses upon departmental instructional needs. In addition, the instructor is expected to contribute in the operation and maintenance of the department’s chemical instrumentation (NMR, GC, GC-MS, LC etc.). As a member of a cooperative and collegial campus community, the successful candidate will also serve on university-wide committees and is expected to be an active scholar to help successfully meet the goals of the department.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • M.Sc with progress in chemistry.
  • Evidence of successful involvement with chemical instrumentation.

Preferred:

  • Experience in teaching general chemistry courses and organic chemistry laboratories
  • Involvement with the maintenance of chemical instrumentation
  • Involvement in synthetic chemistry

Salary:

$40,000
