New River Community and Technical College is located in the beautiful mountains of southeastern WV. Through its five locations – Beaver, Lewisburg, Princeton, Summersville, Ghent – the college serves thousands of students by offering traditional programs, continuing education, and workforce development each year. New River is seeking applications for the following position:
Instructor of Computer Science and Information Technology
Summary of Responsibilities:
The primary duties for the successful candidate will be teaching a full range of computer science and information technology courses for New River Community and Technical College. This position will teach at the Greenbrier Valley and Raleigh County Campuses, but may also involve travel to various campuses for day, evening and/or weekend classes.
In addition to teaching, duties include student advising, recruitment, and retention activities; professional development; college and community service; participation in committee activities; curriculum design and assessment; and other duties assigned by the academic dean.
Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Informational Technology or a closely related discipline with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in the subject area from a regionally accredited institution.
- Three (3) or more years of full time equivalency of demonstrated experience teaching college courses is preferred.
- Experience using Blackboard, Banner, and Quality Matters standards is preferred.
- Experience developing science courses using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) is preferred.

This is a 9-month term faculty position beginning in the Fall 2017 term.
