The Department of Mathematics at North Carolina State University invites applications for a junior tenure-track position beginning Fall 2019. Applications from suitably qualified candidates for more senior positions will be considered. We are seeking exceptionally well-qualified individuals with research interests compatible with those in the department in the general area of interdisciplinary mathematics. Research areas of interest include but are not limited to: harmonic analysis, approximation theory, probability and stochastic processes, numerical analysis, and topological data analysis. Applications can include but are not limited to: analytical and computational approaches for problems with uncertainties or stochasticity, signal processing, imaging, analysis of the geometric features of data sets, or other applications in computational science and engineering. Candidates are expected to be actively engaged in cross-disciplinary research with demonstrated ability for impact in a related outside field. Candidates must have a PhD in the mathematical sciences or related areas, a successful post-doctoral experience, an outstanding research program, a commitment to effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and demonstrated potential for excellence in both research and teaching.
