Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) is seeking, a full-time, non-tenure track lecturer and program coordinator for the Center for Biotechnology Education (CBE), which houses several professional graduate degrees and post-degree certificates in biotechnology. Responsibilities will include: teaching, advising, and providing academic administrative support for the programs, including the launch of new program initiatives. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one of these areas; bioinformatics, genetics, genomics, biotechnology, molecular biology or a related field and will teach core courses as well as courses in the individual’s area of expertise. The Academic Program Coordinator position is a non-tenure-track, 12-month renewable faculty appointment The Academic Program Coordinator will report to the Program Director for Biotech programs. The Academic Program Coordinator will have the following instructional and administrative responsibilities:

  • Teach 5 graduate courses per twelve-month academic year. This responsibility could include core courses, lab courses, online classes and bioinformatics classes in an online format depending on the coordinator’s expertise;
  • Develop new courses, including lab courses to support our degree programs and new initiatives
  • Market and recruit for CBE
  • Assist in the launch of new degree programs
  • Participate in online and onsite recruitment events, and assist with new student orientation;
  • Provide graduate academic advising to students including international students;
  • Assist with ongoing curriculum development to ensure that the program is current;
  • Assist the Program Directors for Bioinformatics and Biotechnology in various activities including outreach to institutional fellowship partners, program promotion and outreach, and coordination with AAP staff in student and faculty services, marketing, and enrollment services;
  • Work with AAP staff and program faculty to ensure the delivery of a quality program;
  • Complete other administrative duties as assigned.
  • This faculty/administrative position will require some evening and weekend work and travel between the Montgomery County Campus and the Homewood campus.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in a field related to the life sciences, with expertise in one of these areas; bioinformatics, genetics, genomics, biotechnology, molecular biology or a related field, and have the ability to develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders. The academic program coordinator must have prior teaching and advising experience, preferably at the graduate level. A successful candidate would ideally be able to begin work immediately.APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
