General Description of Position:

The Department of Chemistry (www.ksu.edu/chem) invites applications for a non-tenure track position as a Research Assistant Professor to begin in October 2017. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and interactive scientist with broad interest in collaborating on research projects with faculty within the Chemistry Department, across campus, and external to the university.

Job Description:

Duties in this position include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the NMR spectrometers and the MRI scanner in the Chemistry shared instrumentation facility, including their maintenance, usage scheduling, cryogenics upkeep and user training. Maintenance responsibilities include regular shimming, optimization, spectrometer/MRI testing and computer/software maintenance. Responsibilities also include the supervision of live rodent MR imaging and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Chemistry shared instrumentation facility. The staff member will also be expected to supervise the operation and upkeep of UV-vis and FTIR spectrometers, and HPLC and UPLC-Mass Spectrometry instruments also housed within the facility. There will be opportunities for the staff person to contribute to our teaching mission and that willingness and demonstrated ability to do so will be a favorable consideration.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry or a closely related discipline.
Experience: experience with multidimensional NMR spectroscopy experiments is required. Experience with protein NMR spectroscopy and/or MRI is desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

Interest and aptitude in teaching undergraduate Chemistry courses.

Salary Range / Pay Rate:

$48,000 – $57,000 / annually
