The Department of Geography at the University of North Alabama invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position for a broadly trained geographer at the rank of assistant professor to begin in August 2018. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced GIS courses, quantitative methods, and WebGIS at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants with GIS programming and/or Geointelligence (GEOINT) background are preferred. In addition, the successful candidate will teach introductory Geography (General Education) courses. Teaching load is four (4) classes per semester. The Department has placed a priority on strengthening our online instruction and experiential learning at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Geography by the date of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to advise undergraduate and graduate students, participate in departmental activities, and conduct research. UNA expects faculty to be enthusiastic, energetic, collegial, and student-centered. Excellence in teaching, research, and service are required for tenure and promotion.
