The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Chemistry within the Department of Natural Sciences. Pending budgetary approval, this appointment is expected to begin August 1, 2018. This position is an academic year (10 month) appointment.
The successful candidate will have a background in Chemistry, with a specialization in organic chemistry. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory general chemistry courses, organic chemistry courses, advanced chemistry courses and courses in organic and biological chemistry for allied health fields. Duties may include the development of new courses in chemistry and organic chemistry and the instruction/development of laboratory courses. Other duties include advising students, serving on department and college-wide committees, and a commitment to undergraduate learning through scholarship as defined by the Boyer Model. The candidate will be expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, a commitment to professional development, and to serving students in a collegiate setting. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach both day and evening courses at the Brunswick campus or Camden Center location as needed.
Minimum Qualifications and Training
- PhD in Organic Chemistry or related field by the start date of August 1, 2018.
- 6 months experience teaching undergraduate courses in chemistry and/or organic chemistry.
Preferred Qualifications and Training
- Recent experience teaching undergraduate laboratory chemistry courses for 12 months or more.
- Experience teaching an integrated course in organic and biological chemistry.
