Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Immunity, Inflammation, Regenerative Medicine

The laboratory of Dr. Shu Man Fu in the Center for Immunity, Inflammation, and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a Post-doctoral Research Associate position focused on studying cell function in lupus nephritis and end stage organ damage using animal and cell models of disease.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing experiments in specified areas of research and will write grant proposals, manuscripts for publication, and abstracts for presentation at national and international meetings. Supervision and instruction of graduate students is also required. The individual must have experience and established expertise in gene editing by the CRISPR/Cas9 technique.

Candidates must have a PhD in Microbiology or a related field in hand by start date, with a background in genetics and gene editing, as well as have evidence in conducting research, and preparing manuscripts. The successful applicant should also be highly motivated, creative, and possess a strong work ethic and critical thinking abilities. Incumbent must have a keen interest in learning Immunology as related to Lupus Nephritis.

This position is restricted and therefore contingent upon funding.
