Assistant Professor of Physical Geography

The Department of Geography & the Environment at Cal State Fullerton seeks a physical geographer to study natural processes and Earth systems using scientific methods, with flexibility across water resources, conservation biogeography, and coastal/marine processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach introductory and core courses plus specialized seminars (Geomorphology, GIS, coastal environments, and others)
• Produce scholarship meeting tenure requirements
• Advise students and serve on department committees
• Lead field-based instruction

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Geography specializing in Physical Geography is required (ABD candidates accepted if the degree is completed by the appointment date).

Preferred

• Established teaching record
• Peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
• Field experience and student mentorship
• GIS proficiency

Appointment

Fall 2027 start. Anticipated hiring range $7,023–$7,163 monthly.
