Position Title: Assistant Teaching Professor - Organic Chemistry
Description:
The successful
candidate for this position will teach undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory and lecture courses, guiding students and learning
assistants while coordinating with the other Organic Chemistry Instructors to reinforce topics covered. Responsibilities will include:
supervision and instruction of Organic Chemistry labs and lectures, supervision and training of laboratory teaching assistants, and
evaluating student learning. In addition, this individual will also serve as a lecturer for various Organic Chemistry courses and
potentially General Chemistry courses.

About thePosition:
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC; https://chemistry.umbc.edu/) invites applications for a full-time,
non-tenure track faculty position in organic chemistry. The primary teaching responsibilities for this position will include instruction of
undergraduate Organic Chemistry laboratory and lecture courses as well as potential instruction of General Chemistry courses as well. This
position offers the potential for pedagogical innovation in a collaborative team of experienced, pedagogy-driven faculty. Additional
associated responsibilities include instruction, oversight of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants, student assessment, and
service on one or more departmental committees based on the candidate’s expertise and/or interest and departmental needs.
We seek a
candidate with a strong background in chemistry/biochemistry instruction and innovative teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Additionally, a strong candidate will exhibit a demonstrated commitment to UMBC’s values of inclusive excellence. A successful applicant
should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field, with a minimum of an M.S. degree required.
Salary Range: $68,000 - $72,000
