Job Duties
The Department of Physics at Norfolk State University invites applications for a one-year term faculty
position at the rank of Instructor or Lecturer. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Master's degree in Materials
Science, and a Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering. We seek candidates with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, particularly
in Introductory Physics with Calculus (lecture and laboratory) and Physical Science (lecture and laboratory). We are especially interested
in applicants with experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to expanding access to higher education for
all.
Successful candidates will exhibit a strong dedication to teaching excellence and will actively promote the physics program
through meaningful engagement with students, collaboration with other NSU departments, and outreach to the broader community. This position
opened on April 30, 2026 and there is a five consecutive workdays minimum posting requirement. The appointment is expected to begin in
August 2026 and will remain open until filled.
