SUMMARY

Paul Quinn College is searching for a full—time faculty member in Mathematics. The in-person role will combine teaching responsibilities for all forms of instructional delivery – in-person, 100% online (asynchronous), scheduled virtual, and hybrid (in-person / online).

Full-time faculty members at Paul Quinn College are responsible for delivering high-quality, innovative instruction in their credentialed discipline and supporting retention and the graduation success of all students. Faculty design curriculum, integrate technology, and prepare students for academic achievement, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurial success, while contributing to the mission and growth of the College.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach 12–18 credit hours per semester
• Design and deliver curriculum aligned with learning outcomes and workforce needs
• Integrate technology, including Canvas, Colleague, and emerging tools such as AI
• Advise, mentor, and support student success and retention
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate academic records
• Engage in program assessment, curriculum improvement, and institutional effectiveness
• Participate in college service, committees, and community engagement
• Maintain professional development and stay current in discipline and andragogy

Teaching and Instruction

Faculty teach assigned courses using student-centered and innovative instructional practices. Courses should connect academic content to real-world application, including workforce and entrepreneurial development. Faculty are expected to effectively use instructional technologies, including Canvas and AI tools where appropriate.

Curriculum Design and Assessment

Faculty design, implement, and continuously improve curriculum with clearly defined, measurable learning outcomes. Assignments and assessments must align with these outcomes. Faculty use data and assessment results to evaluate course effectiveness and contribute to program review and improvement.

Student Support and Engagement

Faculty serve as advisors and mentors, supporting students’ academic and personal development. This includes maintaining office hours, engaging students in and out of the classroom, and connecting students to resources such as tutoring and Student Support Services. Faculty should actively support retention and student success initiatives.

Student Progress and Data Management

Faculty monitor student performance and maintain accurate records, including attendance, grades, and progress updates in systems such as Colleague and CAMS. Faculty use data to identify at-risk students and collaborate with support staff to provide timely interventions.

College Service and Community Engagement

Faculty participate in institutional events, committee work, and campus initiatives. Faculty are also expected to support community engagement and contribute to partnerships that enhance student learning and workforce preparation.

Professional Development

Faculty engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in their discipline and in teaching practices. This includes scholarship, research, and developing proficiency in emerging technologies and instructional tools.

Other Responsibilities

Faculty participate in shared governance, support institutional goals, and serve as role models by demonstrating professionalism, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.

Qualifications

· Master’s degree with 18 credit hours in teaching field (Terminal degree is preferred) from an accredited institution

· Official transcripts from all institutions attended must be provided

· At least three years of college level teaching experience with first generation, under-resourced populations

· Documented completion of training for online teaching

· Recent Online teaching experience (CANVAS experience preferred)

· Documented completion of training in use of student database systems for reporting grades, providing retention alerts, student communication, etc. (Colleague experience preferred)
