Essential Job Duties
- Teaching courses in data science, including but not limited to: programming, data analysis, machine learning, big data, data visualization, and statistical modeling.
- Advising and mentoring students
- Grantsmanship
- Conducting research in data science or a related field and actively pursuing external funding.
- Publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals and presenting research at national and international conferences.
- Participating in departmental service and university committees.
- Performing all other duties as assigned by the department chair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Date Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a closely related field by the start date is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- experience in interdisciplinary research and collaboration with industry or government
- demonstrated ability to secure external funding for research
- excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preference will be given to candidates who can assist in further developing the Data
Science program, the Master's of Science in Information Systems and Computer Security program with a concentration in Data Science, and online course development.

- Expertise in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, data mining, statistical analysis, data engineering, or e related area.
Skills:
- Demonstrated excellence in research with a strong publication record in peerreviewed journals.
Ability:
- Evidence of effective teaching and commitment to high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
