The Astronomy Department at Wesleyan University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level. We seek a colleague who will broaden the Department’s range of research expertise and/or techniques, teach effectively across the curriculum, interact well with other Department faculty, and embrace the Department’s commitment to increasing inclusion and diversity in astrophysics. The position is open to any area of specialization, and the successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness and ability to involve undergraduates in forefront research. The candidate will be expected to teach three courses per year. Additional duties include advising and mentoring undergraduate students and engaging in department and university-level service. In addition to an undergraduate major, the Department supports an M.A. program that has been successful in preparing students, particularly those with non-traditional backgrounds, for admission to Ph.D. programs in astronomy and planetary science.
A Ph.D. in Astronomy or a related field is required for the position.
