The Department of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science at Springfield College invites applications for a 9-month tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Computer Science. This is an exciting time to join the MPCS department. MPCS is seeking a dynamic individual who is dedicated to teaching, has a strong interest in curriculum development, and who seeks a highly collaborative and creative environment. MPCS currently offers majors in Computer and Information Systems as well as Mathematics and Computer Technology. The department partners with other disciplines for the majors of Computer Graphics and Digital Art we well as Computer Technology education. Aside from these majors, MPCS also delivers minors in computer science, programming, web design and animation. Springfield College is highly interested in areas of growth for these programs and seeks someone with a forward-looking vision in these ever-evolving fields. To this end, we welcome applicants from any discipline in the computer science realm. Springfield College faculty are expected to strive for excellence in instruction, scholarship and service and embrace the colleges’ “Humanics” approach to education, enriching students through a time-honored tradition of spirit, mind and body. The main role of the successful candidate will be to teach 12 credits per semester in the department. Scholarship and contributions to the professional community are expected, and preference will be given to candidates who can strive to incorporate undergraduates into their respective scholarly work.

Requirements:

Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computational Science or related field, college level teaching experience, and an active research agenda or evidence of research potential. ABD candidates will be considered, providing evidence of degree completion by the start date of the position.
