The Department of Geography & Geosciences seeks a broadly-trained Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Physical Geography/Atmospheric Science.

Preferred Areas of Specialization: Dynamic and Synoptic Meteorology, Quantitative Methods in Climatology, Numerical Modeling, and Climate Change.

Primary Job Duties: Teach up to 24 credit hours (or equivalent, generally six courses and several labs) per year in support of the Geography and Earth Science programs; maintain an active research agenda in an area of specialization, engage undergraduate students in research, challenge undergraduate majors and General Education students with integrated instruction and utilize an effective teaching style that supports a diverse student body.

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Physical Geography, Atmospheric Science, or related discipline. If Ph.D. completed by August 15, 2024, would be hired as Assistant Professor. If ABD; would be hired at the rank of Instructor, with the requirement that candidate complete doctoral degree by July 1, 2025.

The Department consists of 15 faculty members with specializations in GIScience, Atmospheric Science, Human Geography, Physical Geography and Geology.  The Department offers a B.S. in Earth Science, a B.S. in Geography, and a M.S. in GIS Management.
