The Department of Natural and Physical Sciences at Park University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Geography position with teaching and research interests in human and cultural geography. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching and management of courses in support of the undergraduate geography program, which is available at the flagship campus in the Kansas City area (Parkville, MO) and online. The candidate will be expected to have a Ph.D. in geography or related field by the time of appointment, as well as evidence of successful teaching and a demonstrated capacity for mentoring undergraduate student research.Primary teaching responsibilities will include Cultural Geography, Economic Geography, Urban Geography, Resources and People, as well as traditional regional geography courses (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, Middle East, and Russia). The successful applicant will have the ability to teach undergraduate geography majors in the face-to-face, online, and blended classroom formats. The applicant will be required to teach 24 credit hours per year, participate in service to both their discipline and to the institution, and will collaborate with faculty and students on interdisciplinary research projects connected with Park’s physical geography and geoscience programs.
- PhD degree required with at least 18 graduate credit hours in geography designated courses.
- Evidence of successful teaching in both face-to-face and online formats.
