The Department of Physics, Earth Science & Space Systems Engineering at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Professor of Geoscience. The anticipated start date is August 9, 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIES: We seek candidates that will complement our current expertise in paleontology and sedimentology, igneous petrology, and planetary geology. Areas of specialization may include climate change, environmental geology, geomorphology, hydrogeology, or remote sensing. The successful candidate will teach introductory courses, geographical information systems (GIS) courses, environmental science/climate courses, and other appropriate upper-level courses of their design. Experience in developing successful undergraduate and graduate research programs will be given special consideration.

REQUIREMENTS: Requirements include a Ph.D. in geosciences, strong interpersonal skills, and publications in referred journals commensurate with experience. ABD is acceptable at time of selection but completion date must be no later than September 1, 2021.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency with ArcGIS, PG licensure or ability to obtain said licensure.

Working ConditionsWorking conditions are generally in the classroom and laboratory environment. Some Field work in support of courses and research is also typical. Field work may be local or at a great distance from the University and must be adaptable following ADA guidelines and diverse and LGBTQ+ student support principles as outlined in University policy.
