Job Summary
The ETSU Department of Computing seeks new faculty members for the BlueSky Tennessee Institute (BlueSky), an ETSU off-campus instructional site located at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee headquarters in Chattanooga, TN. BlueSky is a unique partnership that pairs workforce development with an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Computing, with a concentration in Information Systems and an emphasis on Health Systems Security and Analytics. The faculty members will reside and work in Chattanooga, TN.
Chattanooga, the Scenic City, is located along the beautiful Tennessee River as it turns to the north, winding around the base of Lookout Mountain. Situated within 150 miles of Atlanta, Knoxville, Nashville, Huntsville, and Birmingham, Chattanooga is easily accessible by car or plane. It has numerous outdoor recreation options, sporting events, a vibrant arts and theater scene, and many wonderful restaurants. The area boasts excellent educational options, with several public, magnet, private, and parochial schools.
This is an open-rank faculty search. Depending on the experience and credentials of the candidate, the appointment will be made at the lecturer, instructor, or assistant professor rank. The position may be appointed as a tenure track, clinical track, or contract faculty appointment as determined in the hiring process.
Ideal candidates will possess a passion for teaching undergraduate students a broad range of Computing subjects. In addition, all candidates must be willing to participate in service and outreach activities that support the Department of Computing and BlueSky. Faculty hired in a tenure-track assistant professor position must conduct research as part of their contract.
Because of the BlueSky program’s accelerated nature and cohort model, this is a twelve-month appointment with the faculty member teaching courses in the Fall, Spring, and Summer. Twelve-month faculty have numerous opportunities for paid time off, including an accrual of two days per month for annual (personal) leave and an accrual of one day per month of sick leave. Other types of leave are also available in addition to 16 paid holidays per year.
The position is contingent upon sufficient funding. Salary is based on qualifications and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Primary areas of teaching emphasis include a broad range of undergraduate courses in Computing and Information Systems. The successful candidate should be able to teach a selection of courses from the following areas:
• Information Systems: General, Healthcare Information Systems, ERP Implementation, ERP Programming, SAP
• Cybersecurity: Network Security, Information Security, Risk Management, Ethical Hacking
• Database Systems and Data Analytics
• Software Engineering and Web Development
• PC Setup and Computer Organization
• College and Career Preparation in Computing
Required Qualifications
Candidates must have one of the following by the start date to be eligible for the position:
• A doctorate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• ABD (All-But-Dissertation) in a doctoral program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• A master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• All candidates must:Show evidence of good written and oral English skills
• Be able to begin work in July 2023
Preferred Qualifications
• A Ph.D. program is preferred for candidates holding a doctorate or those who are ABD in a doctoral program. However, a DBA program may be considered if it is focused on Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity.
• Previous higher-education teaching experience is preferred
• Professional experience in Information Technology, Information Systems, or Cybersecurity is preferred
