Overview

The Biology Department at Fairfield University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Biology beginning Fall 2024. Teaching responsibilities include general biology labs and lecture courses for non-majors. The teaching load is four undergraduate courses per semester.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have completed a M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology or a related field by August 2024 and have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching general biology at the undergraduate level and an understanding and commitment to educating undergraduate students in the liberal arts tradition, a hallmark of Jesuit education. The Biology Department consists of twenty-one full-time faculty members representing a range of specialties and is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility in the Bannow Science Center. The Biology Department has a vibrant culture of undergraduate student-faculty collaboration in research, numerous departmental events and lecture series, and a large student interest in the health sciences.
