The Department of Biological Sciences at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning in August 2021, with training in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Genetics or Biochemistry. While we welcome applications from all qualified candidates, we are particularly interested in candidates with integrative research interests including Bioinformatics, Genomics or Proteomics approaches.
Our University has many opportunities for collaboration, both within the department of Biological Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as with faculties within the Schools of Engineering, Nursing, Health Sciences and Medicine.
About the College:
The College of Arts and Sciences combines knowledge, skills and perspectives from across the humanities, arts, social and natural sciences. The College of Arts and Sciences offers undergraduate majors in behavioral neuroscience, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, criminal justice, economics, English, game design and development, gerontology, history, independent majors, interdisciplinary studies, law in society, mathematics, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, Spanish language and literature, and theater. In addition, the College of Arts and Sciences offers 31 undergraduate minors, a MS in Molecular and Cell Biology and the additional accelerated undergraduate/graduate programs: 3+1 and 4+1 BS/MS programs in Molecular and Cell Biology, 3+3 BA or BS/JD degree, 3+1 BA in Theater/MBA, and 3+2 BA or BS/MSW. Students can also complete a 5-year BA/BS and MA in Teaching in the following secondary education fields: Biology, English, History, Math and Spanish.

- Teaching of introductory and advanced courses in genetics, as well as some combination of core courses (introductory biology, non-majors, research methods, etc.) and likely a class on Bioinformatics taught at the graduate level
- Develop and maintain an active research program that provides opportunities for student involvement appropriate for an undergraduate-centered institution
- Engage in academic advising and university service appropriate to interests
- Committed to excellence in teaching
- A PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular or Cell Biology, or Genetics or closely related field at time of appointment.
- Proven ability to effectively teach university-level lectures and laboratories
- Experience with the use of instructional technologies highly desired
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
