Grace College invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in Chemistry, with emphasis in Organic Chemistry and/or Analytical Chemistry. Responsibilities include teaching, advising, department and college service, scholarly activity, and professional development.
The candidate will be expected to teach general chemistry (two semester courses), organic chemistry (two semester courses), an analytical chemistry course (one-semester course) and a physical chemistry (one semester course) throughout the academic year, as well as advise chemistry majors. The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to liberal arts undergraduate education and will help support the Department’s Faith, Science, and Reason Grace core course, when s/he has availability within their schedule. Also, the candidate will be expected to develop a reasonable research plan, appropriate to the candidate’s training and expertise, that includes undergraduate students in their program, as part of their scholarly growth.
Qualifications: This position offers a challenging opportunity to a faculty member with both academic and research experience who seeks to oversee the chemistry program. The successful candidate will have:
- A PhD in chemistry, preferably in the area of organic chemistry or analytical chemistry.
- A research plan that can involve undergraduate students appropriate for a 4-yr college.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching.
- A desire to integrate faith with learning in all areas of life.
- A willingness to collaborate with colleagues and students.
- Evidence of relevant scholarship.
