School of Arts & Sciences Computer Science Faculty Member – Fall 2024

 

9-months, exempt | Main Campus 

 

The School of Arts & Sciences at Oakland City University, a Christian faith-based liberal arts institution, is searching for a full-time Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Computer Science for Fall 2024. This teaching position includes key responsibilities in instruction, advisement, assessment, and evaluation. The faculty member will also work closely with the Arts & Sciences Dean and Business Dean along with other relevant staff to design and develop the computer science program to keep the curriculum current.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 18 graduate hours in the computer science; or a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Evidence of effective teaching with technology integration to promote an active, engaging learning environment, with the ability to teach a variety of Computer Science courses and to promote internships in building partnerships with business and industry.

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a doctoral degree in a closely related subject.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science with a doctorate in another field such as business or education.
  • Minimum of three years experience in a computer science related field or higher education experience.

 

Essential Functions

  • Support teaching 12 credit hours per semester across a variety of computer science courses.
  • Advise students majoring in Computer Science.
  • Coordinate course development and assess student learning outcomes that are tied to program learning outcomes.
  • Promote professional and community service.
  • Participate in research towards advancing the subject knowledge and in faculty meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends in the content field.
  • Participate in faculty professional development and other school and university initiatives including accreditation reports.
  • Promote professional and ethical conduct that enhances teaching and learning and the general reputation of the University.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the School of Arts & Sciences Dean.
