Green River College, near Seattle and nestled in the forested foothills of Mount Rainier, welcomes faculty who have a commitment to excellence in teaching and diversity, equity, and inclusion. The College is located in a regional center of technology and engineering innovations, located about 40 minutes south of Seattle and surrounded by STEM related industries including Boeing, Amazon, Microsoft and various bio-tech companies. The Green River College mathematics division serves a diverse body of students in classes ranging from developmental through the first two years of college level STEM education. We are seeking three dynamic, energetic math instructors to work in a collaborative, progressive and creative division. Who Green River Serves: Green River College is an all-access, public college where students from all over the world come together to learn, grow, and enrich their lives. The College is one of Washington State’s 34 community and technical colleges. The student body at Green River College is made up of approximately 47% College Transfer students, 34% Career and Technical, 17% Transitional Studies and 2% Other. In addition, there are eight bachelor of applied science four-year degrees offered. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in downtown Auburn, Kent, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English as a second language, and Continuing Education students. Position ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to:
- Utilize a variety of methods and modes of instruction to ensure success for a diverse student population
- Teach level courses ranging from review of arithmetic through differential equations, including statistics
- Advise students, assist in curriculum development, and participate in other college and departmental activities
- Master’s Degree in Pure Mathematics or Applied Mathematics from an accredited institution
- Teaching experience
- Experience teaching math courses at a community college
- Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Demonstrated strong work ethic
