Job Summary
The Department of Biology at Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for two full-time one-year visiting assistant professor position beginning August 2023. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in biology, biological sciences, or a related field. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. The candidate should have experience teaching at the undergraduate level and be committed to working with students from diverse backgrounds. Teaching responsibilities will focus on General Biology for STEM majors.
Ability and willingness to work collegially with a 4-4 teaching load are essential. Ideal candidates should also have the ability to develop and teach face-to-face, advise Biology majors, and participate in service activities for the department. The Department of Biology offers all levels of instruction for undergraduates and offers minors, majors, and concentrations. The Department of Biology also offers mentored research opportunities for undergraduate students in a range of disciplines. The department is particularly interested in candidates who are dedicated to excellence in teaching; have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, minimizing barriers, and increasing equity and completion rates between members of different demographic groups.
